PlasmaOS is a KDE Plasma inspired Operating System Portfolio Template that aims at emulating the feeling and design of the KDE Plasma Desktop Environment for Linux Based Operating Systems. The Settings application has been reconverted into a portfolio container, as well as the Terminal made into a short about me of the user.
New Template, Different Purpose
My previous template PixelOS was created to host more creative work that is resonant with the creator, fits the wild expressive vibe of the website & appeals to employers who are likely to be in the same age range to when the operating system was thriving. I wanted the next template to be something a bit more simple & professional whilst still maintaining the operating system aesthetic. I'm a big fan of alternative operating systems like the ones that are Linux based, so I thought this idea would be perfect as a website that targets more project based work like coding projects, technical software and hardware work that would be used to apply to jobs in a technical environment.
Simplifying to serve it's intended purpose
The usual theme and trend with portfolio websites that are more targeted for technical career aspects is that they use simple colour schemes and fonts that are legible and easy to read. In short, they are minimal websites with a very good UX but visually, not representative or informative on the person who's applying for the certain job opportunities. Like other containers, the container should partly (or fully) represent who they are as a person so mixing minimalism and operating system ended up with this project. It's simple & basic but gets the design aesthetic and personality across, whilst still highlighting the projects.
