This template brings back the charm of early 2000s icons, hover animations, and website layouts, re-imagined as an interactive portfolio.
Retro Design as Digital Containers
I wanted to create a product that I can sell that stands out as a website and project container to the usual standard templates that are usually minimal, boring & don't express the personality of the creator. This resulted in me deciding to remake one of my old school projects where I used a Windows98 Design Aesthetic into a useable, responsive template that stands out and can be recognised within the older generation. As the portfolio site would often be submitted to job applications and used as resumes, this type of site is highly likely to be recognised by the employers who were surrounded or even used the Windows 98 operating system. Simulating the feeling of an Operating System
I wanted it to resemble and feel like the Windows98 Operating System as close as possible whilst still following the template guidelines. Although a lot of the parts of the website had to be stripped down, what turned out was an amazing project and web development experience and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I used old versions of websites as source of inspiration for the content within the recreated site to make the portfolio even more recogniseable and resonant to both the viewer and creative.
